The Common Ground Foundation's goal of empowering our youth with confidence and self-respect is accomplished by developing and supporting after-school programs with activities that emphasize the importance of setting life goals, developing positive channels for creative talents and making healthy choices.

We partner with organizations that provide constructive outlets where students learn art, music, spoken word and technology. Our youth are able to find the power of their voice through artistic, written and verbal communication. State of the art computer and new media centers offer students an opportunity to learn digital music, journalism and design from experts. During their training, participants will also be taught how to turn their innovative ideas into business plans.

Another essential element of our programs is for youth to understand the importance of achieving overall mind and body wellness. Mentors provide guidance on being physically, emotionally and mentally healthy through culinary/ nutrition courses and life coaching.

Additionally, the Common Ground Foundation partners with local businesses and corporate sponsors to provide internship opportunities. Youth participants work with mentors on a long term basis to receive on-the-job training, entrepreneur skills and valuable life skills. Through our "BE Empowered" programs, youth learn the value of self- respect and self-fulfillment in order to become future role models and leaders.
