Ground Foundation Privacy Policy
Common
Ground Foundation, a non-profit foundation with offices at
475 10th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118, is dedicated to
the empowerment and development of urban youth in the United
States, and operates this website, located at www.commongroundfoundation.org.
This site provides information about the Common Ground Foundation,
and information to empower urban youth. One of the newest
features of our site is our reading corner, where website
visitors 13 and over can read and share ideas about children's
books.
How
Common Ground Collects and Uses Information
On almost all areas of our website, visitors can browse and
read information about Common Ground Foundation without providing
any personally identifiable information. Currently only one
area of this site collects personally identifiable information,
namely The Corner Book Club. In this area, youth 13 and over
are able to register and post reviews of books they have recently
read. All postings are reviewed by Common Ground Foundation
staff prior to posting for appropriateness and compliance
with our website Terms and Conditions (included in those terms
is a prohibition on posting personally identifying information),
and not all submissions will be posted on the site. To register,
users are asked to provide their first names, year of birth,
and email address. Username will be posted along with book
reviews selected for posting. Information you submit is used
as described at the time you provided information, as described
in this policy, and to respond to your request. Information
may also be used for other of or our business purposes. We
may also send you updates via email about The Corner Book
Club, upcoming live chats and other Common Ground Foundation
activities.
Common
Ground Foundation may share information submitted on its site
with third parties in response to a subpoena, governmental
inquiry, if it believes that it is legally required to do
so, to protect Common Ground Foundation or the proper operation
of this site, or if we believe it necessary in order to protect
the health or safety of one of our users. In the unlikely
event that Common Ground Foundation or our assets are acquired
by another company, we will transfer your information to the
new owner. Information collected on this site will also be
shared with Common Ground Foundation's affiliates and related
entities.
In
addition to information specifically requested from our users,
as described above, this site may also use passive tracking
technologies such as cookies and web beacons to log non-identifiable
information such as IP address, browser type and site usage.
The information collected through passive tracking technologies
is used for site maintenance and development, including to
help us analyze site usage, and for our own business purposes.

submitted on this site. A username is password protected,
and when a user posts to the website, only the username is
viewable on the site. By its nature, however, information

Common Ground Foundation, and information to empower urban

If you use our Site, that means that you understand and agree

laws. Anything published by Common Ground Foundation on this

are protected by copyright, and owned or controlled by Common
Ground Foundation, its parent or affiliated companies, or
a someone else who has given Common Ground Foundation permission.
Common Ground Foundation owns or is licensed to use the trademarks
COMMON GROUND FOUNDATION, INC. and commongroundfoundation.org.
By
using the Site, you agree not to copy, reproduce, republish,
upload, post, or transmit (including by e-mail, facsimile,
or other electronic means) any Content. You further agree
not to make or distribute anything that includes the Content.
It is a violation of our rights to do this, even if you are
only giving them away for free. The only time you permitted
to use the Content is if you have express written consent
from Common Ground Foundation. Using Content for any other
purpose is a violation of our copyright and other proprietary

THE
CORNER BOOK CLUB
Certain areas of the Site allow you to post content to the
Site. When posting content, you must follow these rules:
" You agree that your postings will be original to you,
and that you are the sole author of your postings. You agree
that you will not copy, plagiarize, and steal any content
or information from any third party and include it in your
posting. You understand and agree that information you submit
to this Site will not remain a secret, and that Common Ground
Foundation may post any and all information to its website,
or may otherwise publicize, distribute, or share your materials.
You hereby grant to Common Ground Foundation a perpetual,
royalty-free, irrevocable, nonexclusive right and license
to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create
derivative works from, and distribute your postings or incorporate
materials from your postings into any form, media, or technology
now known or later developed throughout the universe. You
further agree, upon our request, to execute any paperwork
that may be necessary to implement or perfect the terms herein.
" You agree that you will not post anything that is offensive,
profane, racist, threatening or untrue. You also agree not
to post anything about other people that contain lies, or
that are illegal, or that encourage someone else to break
the law. If you fail to be appropriate, Common Ground Foundation
will remove your postings and may even block you from using
the Site or participating in the Common Book Club.
" You agree to provide Common Ground Foundation with
information that is true, complete, up-to-date, and accurate.
Common Ground Foundation may immediate cancel your membership
if Common Ground Foundation finds that you supplied it with
untrue or inaccurate information. You must keep your account
information confidential, and you agree to tell us if you
know someone has used your membership, or if you think someone
has.
" You agree not to post any content to the Site that
contains personal information about any individual or violates
anyone else's privacy. You also agree not to post any unauthorized
copies of other people's works, and agree not to pretend to
be someone else when you are online, or to pretend that someone
else supports or endorses the things you or the things you
say.
" You agree not advertise for business purposes, including
offering to sell a product or service, soliciting donations,
or giving people a link, URL or other contact information
where they can ask you about a product or service. If we think
you are using the Site for an inappropriate commercial purpose,
we reserve the right to take action to end such activity.
" You agree not to post any content that contains viruses,
corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs
that may harm this Site or make it operate poorly, or that
would do the same to a third-party computer, the Corner Book
Club, or any other specific feature of the Site.
RELEASE
AND INDEMNIFICATION
You, and if you are a minor, your parent or legal guardian
on his or her own and on your behalf (collectively, "You"),
agree to release Common Ground Foundation, its parents and
affiliates together with their respective employees, agents,
officers, directors and shareholders, from any and all liability
and obligations whatsoever in connection with or arising from
your use of the Site. You hereby indemnify, defend, and hold
Common Ground Foundation, its parent and affiliated companies,
and all officers, directors, owners, agents, information providers,
affiliates, licensors, and licensees (collectively, the "Indemnified
Parties") harmless from and against any and all liability
and costs incurred by the Indemnified Parties in connection
with any claim arising out of any breach by You of the Terms
or the foregoing representations, warranties, and covenants,
including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys' fees.
You shall use best efforts to cooperate with Common Ground
Foundation in the defense of any claim. Common Ground Foundation
reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive
defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification
by You.

We respect the intellectual property of others, and we ask
you do the same. If you believe your intellectual property
rights have been violated, please read and complete our Proprietary
Rights Complaint Process and Notification Form [hyperlink
to this document, which we have provided]. If you believe
that any information or materials on this Site violate these

Common Ground Foundation does not guarantee or warrant that
information on the Site posted by third parties, including
content posted by members of the Corner Book Club ("Postings"),
is accurate or reliable. You should not rely on any Postings.
Although the Common Ground Foundation monitors and screens
the Postings to the best of its ability, it makes no warranties,
express or implied, as to the Postings or the accuracy and
reliability of any Postings, and you understand that Common
Ground Foundation has no obligation to modify or remove any
inappropriate Postings, and no responsibility for the conduct
of the user submitting any Posting. Notwithstanding the foregoing,

This Site is controlled and operated by Common Ground Foundation
from its offices within the State of California, United States
of America. Common Ground Foundation makes no representation

from other locations do so on their own initiative and are
responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the
extent local laws are applicable, and understand that information
that they provide to Common Ground Foundation will be sent

TERMINATION
OF SERVICE
Common Ground Foundation may, in its sole discretion, cease
operation of this Site, may terminate your membership, or
otherwise restrict your access to this Site immediately and
without prior notice. In such an event, Common Ground Foundation
shall have no liability to you arising from the altered or
cancelled operation of the Site.
MISCELLANEOUS
The Terms shall be governed by and interpreted by judges in
accordance with the laws of the State of California, without
giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law. If any
provision of the Terms shall be unlawful, void, or for any
reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed
severable from the Terms and shall not affect the validity
and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

Terms constitutes the entire agreement between you and us
with respect to your use of our Site, and replaces any agreements
we may already have had. Common Ground Foundation may amend
